Rajendra Chetty is Professor of Language Education at the University of the Western Cape. His research interests are commonwealth literature, decoloniality and literacy. His recent publications are a literary biography, At the edge: the writings of Ronnie Govender (2017) and Narrating the new nation: South African Indian writing (2018). He was 2015/2016 Fulbright scholar at Queens College, City University of New York. He has been recognised for his research by the English Academy of Southern Africa with the 2019 gold medal award and the Education Association of South Africa with the 2016 medal of honour.
