Carel van Rooyen

Carel van Rooyen, oorspronklik van Kakamas in die Noord-Kaap, gradueer in 2014 aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch met ’n BA-graad in Taal en Kultuur. Hy doen sy honneursgraad in Afrikaans en Nederlands in 2016, en voltooi sy hoofnavorsingswerkstuk hiervoor oor mag, moraliteit en identiteit in Mens Dier Ding (2013) deur Alfred Schaffer aan die hand van post- en metamodernisme, onder leiding van professor Marlene van Niekerk. Na ’n diploma in dokumentontwerp werk hy by ’n maatskappy in die opleidingsindustrie. Hy hou van musiek, draf, tuinmaak, bak en lees, veral die werke van Eleanor Baker.

Carel van Rooyen, originally from Kakamas in the Northern Cape, graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2014 with a BA degree in Language and Culture. He completes his honours degree in Afrikaans and Dutch in 2016, including his mini-dissertation on power, morality and identity in Alfred Schaffer’s Mens Dier Ding (2013) from post- and metamodern perspectives, with professor Marlene van Niekerk acting as supervisor. Having completed a diploma in document design he now works at a educational firm. He enjoys music, jogging, gardening, baking and reading, especially the works of Eleanor Baker.
